We invite you to pledge to be ON WATCH for persecuted Christians in 2010. To introduce this exciting campaign, I want to share with you a report from one of our contacts that I cannot get out of my mind.
The first part of the report is about a covert meeting with a brother whose name I cannot share because his life is in very real danger.
We met “Imaad” at midnight early last week. It was a brief meeting because this brother is literally on the run. He told us that just months ago he was attacked by fundamentalists and escaped with a bullet in his leg. After his leg healed, another group tried to capture him at his home. When they didn’t find him, they took his wife instead, forcing him to surrender. Imaad was detained for a week and, by God’s grace, released. I have known this brother for eight years and am amazed at the far-reaching ministry he has. Literally, his life is in danger every day and yet he joyfully goes about his work.
It is difficult for you and me to fully understand what it must be like to constantly be on the run. To never know from moment to moment what might await us, or our family. All for following Jesus.
From Iran to Somalia to Pakistan to North Korea, our suffering brothers and sisters face unimaginable persecution. And they want nothing more than to stand strong for their faith, to be used by God as a light in deep spiritual darkness.
Our suffering brothers and sisters gain strength in the knowledge that you know of their situation... and are standing with them in prayer. I know, because when I visit them, that is what they tell me.
